About The Position

We’re looking for a NETA Field Service Technician to join our dynamic team supporting RMS Energy’s growing portfolio of field and shop-based projects. In this hands-on role, you’ll perform critical testing, maintenance, and upgrades on low and medium-voltage electrical equipment in the shop and the field. You’ll also contribute to design and commissioning work involving relay and switchgear upgrades. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in power plants, electrical field services, or industrial power distribution
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Demonstrated time management and ability to handle multiple tasks across projects
  • Capable of troubleshooting complex systems and leading field operations efficiently
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, diagrams, tools, and safety protocols
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening (pre-employment and random)
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs., climb ladders, and work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Comfortable working near energized electrical equipment with full PPE
  • Proficient in English for reading, writing, and safe communication in the field

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Power DB for documentation is a plus
  • Previous relay and meter testing experience is a plus (electromechanical and solid-state)
  • Completion of a trade school program, technical college, associate degree, or skilled trade certification in welding or a related field
  • Experience testing in data center environments
  • NETA Level III or IV
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, protective relays, and integration projects
  • Hands-on commissioning experience across substation, industrial, or utility applications
  • Leadership experience in managing test crews and project timelines

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on LV and MV systems up to 15kV
  • Test and troubleshoot circuit breakers, transformers, motor controllers, MV cables, and switchgear
  • Start-up and commission power systems in the field and support design upgrades as needed
  • Interpret wiring diagrams and schematics with high proficiency
  • Use test equipment and meters accurately; document all work using company software and systems
  • Lead and supervise field crews; assign tasks, plan workflows, and maintain project timelines
  • Promote a strong culture of safety and ensure compliance with all safety protocols
  • Produce accurate, detailed reports on maintenance, testing, and repairs
  • Follow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areas
  • Support engineering projects through commissioning, relay testing, and system upgrades
