About The Position

The .NET Developer will support the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) on the application development and maintenance project. This role performs advanced computer programming work, developing and enhancing web-based and mobile software solutions to meet the agency's functional and technical requirements. The .NET Developer will collaborate closely with systems analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to gather requirements, model solutions, and implement changes across front-end and back-end application environments. The role also includes diagnosing and resolving application issues, recommending process improvements, and ensuring software is maintained at current operational standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • 4 years of experience in the development of web-based software applications.
  • 4 years of experience in root cause analysis and resolution.
  • 4 years of experience programming in various coding languages, including .NET, HTML, HTML5, ASP, Java, JSP, .NET/C#, SQL, and stored procedures, with knowledge of front-end and back-end user interface methodologies.
  • 4 years of experience and proficiency in web programming using .NET/C#, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, Stored Procedures, Oracle, and SQL Server.
  • 3 years of experience with Agile SDLC methodology.
  • 3 years of experience working on a team performing a variety of SDLC-related tasks.
  • 3 years of experience in intra-team collaboration for requirements gathering and software development, modifications, and maintenance.
  • 3 years of experience presenting in-person software application change demonstrations for the purposes of seeking customer approval of proposed designs.
  • 2 years of experience using Azure DevOps, Jira, or a similar tool.
  • 1 year of experience programming in C# .NET Blazor.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience porting an existing codebase from Java to C# .NET Blazor.
  • Experience and knowledge of responsive web design practices and implementation.
  • Experience and knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and their implementation.
  • Previous experience working with Texas Department of Agriculture systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement web-based applications using C# .NET Blazor, HTML5, CSS, SQL, Stored Procedures, Oracle, and SQL Server.
  • Write, test, debug, and document complex programs, including client/server and web-based applications.
  • Develop and maintain mobile applications using Visual Studio 2022, .NET Core 9.0, and DevExpress tools, including secure payment acceptance functionality.
  • Investigate problem areas and perform root cause analysis to implement effective resolutions.
  • Collaborate with systems analysts, architects, and business teams to gather and validate requirements and understand technical limitations.
  • Support Texas Department of Agriculture application software through diagnosis of issues and implementation of corrective changes.
  • Perform research and analysis to develop specialized programs or routines that supplement and enhance front-end and back-end applications.
  • Conduct in-person software application change demonstrations to obtain customer approval of proposed designs.
  • Recommend process improvements for application development projects as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
