About The Position

Talan is seeking a .NET Developer to join their team in NYC. This role is focused on maintaining and improving a live equities back office system that a trading desk depends on daily. It involves handling production support, resolving escalated tickets, and working closely with business and technical teams to ensure system stability and performance. The developer will also be responsible for writing, debugging, and refactoring code in .NET, supporting scripts in Perl, Unix Shell, and Windows batch, and adhering to formal Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes. Additionally, the role includes participating in requirements discussions, building new features or small applications as needed, and keeping documentation current.

Requirements

  • 5-9 years of experience, ideally in Application Support with real hands-on development, not just monitoring
  • Strong .NET and SQL skills
  • Experience with Perl, Unix Shell, or Windows batch scripting
  • Comfort working in a ticket-driven, process-heavy environment (Incident/Change/Problem Management)
  • Good communication skills. You'll be talking to both business and technical people daily

Nice To Haves

  • Prior exposure to equities or trading back office systems is a big plus

Responsibilities

  • Handle daily support and resolve escalated tickets, working closely with business and technical teams to fix issues fast
