About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking a NERC Compliance Program Manager to coordinate and provide management oversight to assigned NERC compliance programs. This role involves understanding and interpreting new NERC initiatives, supporting the development of reliability standards, and assessing their business impact on Dominion Energy. The position requires effective communication with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and management, documenting responses to NERC inquiries, and reviewing technical standards under development. The manager will also provide technical assessments, ensure communication across registered affiliates, represent the company in regional and national committees, and maintain NERC compliance documentation. Key responsibilities include assessing compliance risks, interfacing with regulatory agencies, identifying program improvements, staying updated on NERC trends, developing presentations, leading self-audits with the internal audit group, and integrating business tools and IT applications for NERC compliance monitoring. This role functions as a subject matter expert and participates in NERC audits of peer companies.

Requirements

  • 7-8+ years of experience in electric utility industry
  • In-depth knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards
  • Good working knowledge of bulk power system operating practices, transmission system planning, operations and design
  • Strong understanding of the technical aspects of NERC regulations and policies and impact on company operations and compliance
  • Leadership and project management skills including ability to manage projects from start to finish
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills (including public speaking)
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of trust and confidence among peers and management
  • Exceptional organization, planning and decision-making skills

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and provide management oversight to assigned NERC compliance programs.
  • Understand, interpret, and provide technical assistance for new NERC initiatives.
  • Support development of standards that preserve and enhance reliability of the bulk power system.
  • Identify standards with potential business impact on Dominion Energy and communicate impacts to SMEs and management.
  • Document, review, consolidate, and route company responses to NERC inquiries for executive approval.
  • Review, analyze, and comment on NERC technical standards under development.
  • Provide company technical assessments on NERC compliance documentation from internal/external auditors or peer utility reviews.
  • Ensure appropriate communications across all registered affiliates on numerous compliance expectations.
  • Represent company interests in regional and/or national committees on NERC reliability matters.
  • Support technical and content review of all materials posted on SharePoint Site and within compliance documentation files.
  • Assess, identify, and prioritize NERC compliance risks based on regulatory requirements.
  • Interface directly with regulatory & reliability agencies on standards and enforcement.
  • Identify improvements to content/format of NERC program initiatives.
  • Keep up-to-date on current NERC trends and issues to design, implement, and administer NERC compliance programs.
  • Develop and provide presentations on NERC related matters to promote and inform non-executive, executive, and external audiences.
  • Work with internal audit group in leading, planning, and coordinating quality compliance reviews (self audits).
  • Prioritize and lead integration of business tools and IT applications to effectively monitor and develop documentation necessary to assure full NERC compliance.
  • Function as subject matter expert to both internal and external audiences.
  • Participate on NERC audits of other peer companies.
