About The Position
This locum tenens Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant role provides clinical coverage in an inpatient, Level II, three-bed NICU in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The clinician oversees daily care of neonates and collaborates with attending physicians on patient management, while the APP oversees the babies’ daily care. Newborn nursery care may also be needed. The average daily volume is 3–6 patients, admissions are required, and rounding is on assigned patients. The department has 2–3 RNs, one backup PA/NP, and one office staff member. Epic is the facility’s EMR. Coverage is needed ASAP through June 30, 2027, in 24-hour shifts from 8 a.m. to 8 a.m. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered by the agency.
Requirements
- Board certified.
- Active Pennsylvania PA license, IMLC, or have started processing an applicable license.
- BLS certification.
- PALS certification.
- NRP certification.
- Proficiency in UVC/UAC lines, chest tubes, lumbar punctures, and intubations.
- Epic EMR proficiency.
- Ability to provide team-based care.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily care of neonates in the Level II NICU.
- Collaborate with attending physicians on patient management.
- Perform procedures including UVC/UAC line placement, chest tubes, lumbar punctures, and intubations.
- Provide care for newborns in the nursery as needed.
- Document patient care in Epic EHR.
- Admit patients and round on assigned patients.
