Neonatology NP/PA
About The Position
Locum tenens Physician Assistant providing clinical care for neonates in an inpatient Level IV NICU in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The provider will serve as a primary provider in collaboration with MDs, care for assigned patients, perform high-acuity procedures, and manage neonatal ground and air transport after completing required orientation. The NICU has 56 beds and an average daily volume of 10 patients. Support includes 20–22 RNs, 2–3 PAs/NPs, one office staff member, and MD collaboration. Cerner is the EMR. Coverage is supplemental and extends ASAP through December 31, 2027. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered. A minimum of six shifts per month is required; block scheduling is preferred. Hospital privileges are not required, and temporary privileges are unavailable.
Requirements
- Board certification is required.
- A Pennsylvania PA license or pending application is required; IMLC is accepted.
- BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications are required.
- Cerner EMR training is required.
- Transport orientation is required.
- Minimum of six shifts per month.

Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for neonates in a Level IV NICU as the primary provider in collaboration with MDs.
- Care for assigned patients and participate in interdisciplinary rounds.
- Perform high-acuity procedures, including PICC, UVC, and UAC line placement, chest tubes, lumbar punctures, and intubations.
- Manage ground and air transport of neonates after completing required orientation.
- Document patient care in the Cerner EMR.
- Work variable day, evening, night, weekend, and 24-hour shifts.
