About The Position

Endeavor Health is seeking an exceptional neonatologist to join the Division of Neonatology. The role involves providing in-house and on-call coverage in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Edward Hospital and the Special Care Nursery at Elmhurst Hospital. The successful candidate will manage critically ill neonates, perform advanced procedures, and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care. The position also includes participation in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, family-centered care, and developmental follow-up clinics. Requirements

  • Completed an accredited neonatology fellowship.
  • Board certified/eligible by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
  • Illinois Medical License or License Pending.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-house and on-call coverage in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Edward Hospital and the Special Care Nursery at Elmhurst Hospital, ensuring high-quality neonatal care and timely response to emergent situations.
  • Provide comprehensive care for critically ill neonates, including management of preterm and term infants with complex medical and surgical conditions.
  • Perform advanced neonatal procedures, including intubation, central line placement, chest tube insertion, and umbilical line placement.
  • Manage ventilatory support, including conventional ventilation, high-frequency ventilation, and non-invasive respiratory support.
  • Work closely with a team of neonatal nurse practitioners, pediatric hospitalists, respiratory therapists, nurses, and subspecialists to ensure coordinated and evidence-based care.
  • Provide delivery room stabilization and resuscitation, attending high-risk deliveries as needed.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to individualized care plans for NICU/SCN patients.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based protocol development, and clinical research to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with maternal-fetal medicine specialists, pediatric subspecialists, and other providers to optimize neonatal care.
  • Participate in family-centered care by providing support, education, and guidance to parents and caregivers.
  • Work a combination of daytime clinical shifts, overnight call, and weekend/holiday coverage as per department scheduling needs.
  • Attend developmental follow-up clinics as needed to monitor long-term outcomes of NICU graduates.
  • Potentially work additional hours providing coverage at affiliated Endeavor Health hospitals, compensated at the then-applicable moonlighting rate.
