Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
About The Position
Locum tenens Neonatal Nurse Practitioner role providing inpatient care in a Level IV NICU in Lubbock, Texas. The position is supplemental coverage for a facility with 214 beds, including 52 department beds. The NICU has an average daily volume of 30–35 patients. Daytime rounding focuses on lower-acuity NICU patients. The practice includes 4 physicians and 6 APPs and uses Epic as its EMR system. Coverage runs January 1, 2027, through January 1, 2028. The schedule is one week per month, Monday through Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call coverage consists of 24-hour shifts from 8 a.m. to 8 a.m., including 1–2 weekends per month. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered.
Requirements
- Board certification (BC).
- Texas license or compact license.
- DEA registration required.
- BLS certification.
- PALS certification.
- NRP certification.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily rounding on lower-acuity NICU patients.
- Perform neonatal procedures, including lumbar punctures, arterial line placements, central line placements, chest tube insertions, and airway management/intubation.
- Manage and monitor patient conditions, adjusting treatments as necessary.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide patient care.
- Document patient progress and maintain accurate medical records.
