Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (APP/ NP)
About The Position
Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Division of General Pediatrics is currently seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to serve at Loma Linda University Medical Center - Murrieta. This role involves providing comprehensive care to healthy newborns in the newborn nursery and critically ill neonates in a level II NICU. The NNP will conduct physical assessments, diagnose and manage medical conditions, collaborate with a healthcare team, and perform diagnostic tests. Additionally, the role includes educating families and other healthcare professionals, participating in quality improvement initiatives, providing emergency care, and maintaining accurate patient documentation.
Requirements
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing, with a focus on Neonatology.
- Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) from a recognized certifying body.
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in level III or IV NICU.
- Strong clinical skills with proficiency in neonatal resuscitation and advanced care techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- California residency is required upon start date.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to healthy newborns in newborn nursery (13 beds) and critically ill neonates in a level II NICU (6 beds)
- Conduct thorough physical assessments, diagnose, and manage medical conditions and diseases.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Educate and support families regarding neonatal care, treatment options, and care plans.
- Educate residents, medical students and other health professionals that rotate through nursery and NICU.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical protocols and guidelines.
- Provide emergency care as needed and respond to critical situations with prompt, effective interventions.
- Document patient care and progress accurately and in a timely manner.
- Complete History and Physical, progress notes and discharge summaries
