About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NP) in a Level III NICU. The role involves providing care to neonates and requires attendance at deliveries, neonatal resuscitation, and performing procedures such as PICC line placement, umbilical line placement, needle aspiration, and chest tube placement. A supervising physician will be present during the assignment. The position is a long-term permanent search, and the NP will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, developing treatment plans, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, managing chronic conditions, providing patient education, performing procedures, collaborating with healthcare providers, and documenting patient care.

Requirements

  • Active Michigan licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS and NRP certifications
  • Minimum 1-year Neonatal experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Michigan
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
