About The Position

Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to work in a fast-paced, academic health care setting. The APP will assess, implement, and evaluate appropriate plans of care for patients, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in accordance with the scope of practice and current standards of care. This role involves managing care for a caseload of medically complex neonates from acute phase to transition to home, and participating in deliveries. The APP must demonstrate competencies in providing age-appropriate care to neonates from birth to two years of age. Responsibilities also include initiating and participating in education, research, and professional activities to improve patient care, program operations, and professional development. This position will provide community coverage at UH Lake West Medical Center and Southwest General. The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for providing quality care for patients and increasing patient access and satisfaction. Standard tasks are performed as specified by the Ohio State Board of Medicine or Nursing and UH entity specific Medical Bylaws.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing with advanced practice certification specific to the neonatal population (Required)
  • Master's Degree from an accredited PA educational program (Required)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relationships. (Required proficiency)
  • Computer skills to access patient medical data from UHHS mainframe. (Required proficiency)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook. (Required proficiency)
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required)
  • Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NP) (Required)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) (Required)
  • Current APRN License (Required)
  • Physician Assistant (PA) (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)
  • NRP provider certification
  • Passed the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (Required)
  • Practice with a supervising physician (Required Upon Hire)
  • Maintain national PA Certification (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years as an Advanced Practice Provider (Preferred)
  • Experience working as a Neonatal APP for a large healthcare system
  • 2 years of experience working as a NICU RN
  • PA with neonatal experience will be considered
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (Preferred)
