NEMT Driver – Patient Transportation
About The Position
Innovative Care Solutions is seeking a dependable and compassionate NEMT Driver to provide safe, comfortable, and reliable transportation for Ohio's Hospice patients. This position plays an important role in helping patients access appointments and services while providing respectful, patient-centered assistance throughout each trip. The NEMT Driver is responsible for transporting hospice patients safely to and from scheduled appointments and other approved destinations. The driver ensures patients receive professional assistance during transportation while maintaining a safe, clean, and dependable vehicle. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys driving, working independently, and interacting with patients and families in a compassionate and respectful manner.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
- Ability to maintain state-required automobile insurance coverage.
- Ability to safely operate a passenger transportation vehicle.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the care team.
- Basic computer skills sufficient to complete required documentation.
- Ability to meet organizational requirements for background screening and a 10-panel drug screen.
- Ability to successfully complete Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity (PASS) training or Area Agency on Aging DRIVE training. Training may be provided during orientation.
- Ability to work the required schedule and safely drive during varying weather and road conditions.

Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients using an assigned medical transportation vehicle.
- Assist patients with entering and exiting the vehicle as appropriate for their individual needs.
- Provide courteous, respectful, and compassionate service to patients and families.
- Follow all applicable traffic laws, transportation requirements, and organizational safety procedures.
- Complete required transportation logs, trip documentation, and other reports accurately and on time.
- Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and general condition of the assigned transportation vehicle.
- Communicate transportation-related concerns or changes to the appropriate team members.
- Safely operate the vehicle in daytime, nighttime, and inclement weather conditions when required.
- Participate in quality improvement activities related to transportation services.
- Complete required training and maintain knowledge of safe patient transportation practices.
- Work collaboratively with the care team and other departments to support timely and effective patient transportation.
