About The Position

Under general direction of the Assistant Director of Neighborhood Services, this position will provide general technical, administrative, and managerial support for department programs, including Code Compliance, Environmental Health and Animal Services, with a focus on administering and improving department business processes and community outreach and engagement efforts. The employee will have regular contact with the public while facilitating and promoting outreach and engagement activities which will require the use of considerable tact and judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Management, Urban Planning, or related field.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of related experience in an internship, part-time, or full-time capacity is preferred; OR An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of records maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of project management best practices.
  • Skilled in researching and analyzing data.
  • Skilled in community outreach and engagement.
  • Skilled in creating visually interesting documents.
  • Skilled in navigating a variety of business process technology platforms.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Safe driving record and valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Clear Criminal Background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with division managers to develop business process improvements for their respective programs.
  • Develop workflows in permit management software, such as Energov and PetPoint, to assist the respective teams with case management and data entry.
  • Assist with records management and department responses to open records requests.
  • Complete ad hoc assignments as directed by the Director or Assistant Director that may require data gathering, research, detailed analysis, and document preparation.
  • Respond to requests for information or inquiries from residents, businesses and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in addressing problems experienced by the business community; addressing citizen complaints and other issues and will attempt to intercede in order to achieve resolution and avoid any further escalation.
  • Coordinate with the Town’s Marketing and Communications Team to develop print materials, web content and other collateral marketing material for community outreach and for the promotion of the Town’s programs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships and partnerships with community stakeholders in order to increase awareness of departmental programs and increase utilization.
  • Attend and present, when appropriate, at community/neighborhood meetings, community fairs, and other events.
  • Assist in the promotion and administration of the Neighborhood Vitality Grant program by increasing outreach and awareness, reviewing applications, drafting award letters and monitoring projects through their completion and subsequent reimbursement.
  • Assist with the administration of the Rental and Lodging Registration and Inspection Program by providing administrative support for field officers, reviewing applications, ensuring invoicing and payment, and responding to inquiries from applicants.
  • Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops as required.
  • May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly or completely unrelated to normal job functions in the course of providing assistance to certain Town special events.
