Requirements

  • Minimum of five years' experience and/or training in apartment maintenance.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, Neighbors, and the general public.
  • Ready to help when needed, and on-call to help your team & Neighborhood.
  • A High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • A minimum of three certificates from related institutions reflecting completion of maintenance related courses, such as: BOMA, IREM and/or vocational programs.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local governing laws.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as: safety rules, operating manuals and maintenance instructions.
  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all physical operations of the Neighborhood, particularly the preservation and maintenance of the property.
  • Establish positive, productive relationships with the Neighborhood staff.
  • Hire, train, and mentor staff.
  • Resolve problems and look out for the best interest of the Neighborhood.
  • Responsible for the budget through cost-effective management of maintenance functions.
  • Responsible for on-going safety training, capital projects, managing vendors and contractors, and maintaining inventory.
  • Act as a knowledge holder of company policies and an example of how to comply with rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the Neighborhood.
