About The Position

This position coordinates and supports ongoing activities for the City of Englewood’s established Neighborhood Program and registered neighborhood network to promote and enhance the quality of life within the City of Englewood. The role focuses on maintaining engagement with neighborhood groups, supporting participation in the program, and helping connect residents with city resources and information that enhances quality of life. The position facilitates ongoing communication and relationship-building between residents, community members, and city staff, and helps identify opportunities for neighborhood-level engagement, events, and initiatives. The role assists with organizing engagement activities, responding to neighborhood inquiries, and supporting collaborative efforts to address community concerns. This position supports citywide community engagement efforts by assisting with the development and implementation of engagement activities across departments. This is a professional support-level position that requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust, foster collaboration, and support inclusive community participation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major emphasis in social science, public administration, human relations, community development, or related field.
  • Two to four years professional experience in community relations or development, neighborhood organizing, public administration, non-profit community services, community group facilitation, coordinating, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to obtain IAP2 Foundations Certification within one year of hire.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • Ability to analyze the needs of the community and the organization and develop strategies to meet those needs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, other city departments, and members of the community.
  • Ability to work with diverse community groups using strong human relations, customer service, and community involvement skills.
  • Ability to act as a resource for complex problem-solving for neighborhood groups and/or other community agencies.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent facilitation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and make presentations to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to remain calm and resolve conflicts in difficult and sensitive situations.
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple assignments, demonstrate excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse communities.

Responsibilities

  • Creates, maintains, and reports on performance measures related to neighborhood engagement.
  • Manages and monitors the allocation of resources to neighborhoods through grant programs and neighborhood programs.
  • Assists in monitoring and tracking expenses for the Neighborhood Resources Program budget and supports budget tracking as needed.
  • Provides support and coordination for resident-led initiatives that tie into identified community priorities and goals.
  • Plans, organizes, and participates in outreach events like Neighborhood Nights.
  • Supports implementation of neighborhood-related goals identified in the Englewood Strategic Plan.
  • Coordinates and supports engagement with registered neighborhoods, including assisting residents with organizing neighborhood groups and connecting them to city resources.
  • Supports city departments in their community engagement efforts and integrate with other city engagement, outreach activities, and opportunities.
  • Assists with coordination of neighborhood signage projects, including communication with vendors and tracking project progress.
  • Provides support to residents in organizing neighborhood activities that promote community development by providing information, resources, and/or providing technical assistance.
  • Understands the functions of other City departments and divisions and how they interact with neighborhoods and enhances partnership between the City and neighborhoods.
  • Supports efforts to connect neighborhoods with schools, businesses, civic organizations, and community groups to foster partnerships, share resources, and address community needs.
  • Prepares routine written summaries, reports, and presentations for internal use and occasional public meetings as needed.
  • Provides culturally responsive customer service and supports inclusive engagement practices across diverse communities.
  • Assists with coordination of public safety outreach efforts in partnership with the police department’s community relations staff.
  • Supports implementation of citywide engagement strategies and helps maintain consistency across departments.
  • Assists with maintaining city engagement platforms, including Englewood Engaged, city website, and other publication tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.
