About The Position

The Neighborhood Assistance Coordinator serves one or more neighborhoods from a single or a series of satellite Neighborhood Assistance Team sites. This role involves receiving complaints, inquiries, and requests for assistance from neighborhood residents and merchants. The coordinator organizes and conducts activities, identifies neighborhood problems, and either refers them for resolution or attempts to solve them directly, performing follow-up to ensure corrective actions are taken. Responsibilities include conducting surveys of neighborhood opinions and conditions, developing programs for improved neighborhood conditions and resident involvement, and disseminating information on governmental programs. The role may also involve producing media content and preparing reports.

Requirements

Demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks.
Graduation from an accredited college with a degree in sociology, social work or a related field or an equivalent combination of satisfactory completed college credit hours and work experience (with one year of related work experience equating to one year of college).
Ability to develop, implement, and/or evaluate and monitor approved projects, programs and activities.
Adequate communication skills, both oral and written, with special emphasis on ability to understandably communicate with all types and strata of people.

Identifies neighborhood problems and either refers them to others for resolution or attempts to solve the problems himself or herself; performs follow-up on referrals to determine whether or not corrective actions have been taken.
Conducts surveys of neighborhood opinions, conditions, and other factors.
May develop programs and projects designed to bring about improved neighborhood conditions, resident involvement and better relations with governmental bodies.
Disseminates information on governmental programs and other projects and activities.
May produce or help produce cable television shows and other media events.
Prepares reports and other documents as requested.
Performs related duties as assigned or required.
