About The Position

TransCanada Turbines (TCT) is the sole authorized overhaul, repair and maintenance service provider for Siemens Energy and General Electric (GE) aeroderivative industrial gas turbines, serving an expanding international client base. TransCanada Turbines’ key strength is our people, who offer quality and flexibility that only an independent organization can provide. Reporting to the Team Lead, Inspection, the NDT Technician (RTII) is responsible for the inspection, NDT, and sentencing of Siemens and General Electric Aeroderivative gas turbine components during component repair operations. TransCanada Turbines has recently acquired radiographic inspection equipment. We are looking for a CGSB Level II RT to develop (alongside a CGSB Level III) each RT technique for the components that require radiographic inspection.

Requirements

  • Applicants must possess a minimum of CGSB Level II certification in Radiographic Testing (RT).
  • Applicants must possess or be working towards CGSB Level II certification in Penetrant Testing (PT).
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience or a combination of education and experience that allows the individual to adequately perform the role, determined by the Team Lead, Component Repair

Nice To Haves

  • Applicants that carry CGSB Level I or higher certifications in Magnetic Testing (MT) or Eddy Current Testing (ET) would be considered an asset.
  • Applicants that have an X-Ray Safety Officer Certification would be considered an asset. Applicants must be willing to obtain certification as an X-Ray Safety Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Radiographic Testing (RT) on aeroderivative gas turbine components to identify any flaws or defects while ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations
  • Act as the X-Ray Safety Officer (RSO) for TransCanada Turbines
  • Develop component specific RT techniques for each required component.
  • Setup and calibrate NDT equipment
  • When needed, perform LPI and visual inspection on gas turbine components as part of the component repair process
  • Monitor and maintain the Inspection and NDT tooling and equipment. Ensure that this equipment is kept in a safe reliable working order. Remove from service any tool or equipment found to be defective.
  • Willingness to cross-train and gather new skills in support of the company’s changing needs, and to cross-train others.
  • Providing of assistance, when required, to internal and external auditors.
  • Working closely with the HR and HSE departments to understand company policies and procedures, and ensure work is carried out accordingly. Leading by example and showing positive support for company policies by demonstrating an ongoing commitment to reinforce departmental acceptance. Making recommendations on policies and procedures and engaging in the continuous improvement drive to attain the best-in-class target and improve shop productivity and profit of the company in general.
  • Increasing of knowledge regarding the HSE Policy and Manual and maintaining of a positive attitude towards the health and safety of self and coworkers.
  • Taking ownership of HSE issues and demonstration of enthusiasm and support for HSE.
  • Completion of other duties as directed by the Team Lead, Inspection or designate.
