About The Position

Under minimum supervision, candidate will perform all duties listed and be a fully certified Level II NDT Technician in accordance with CAN/CGSB-48.9712.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized Technical College or equivalent. Proof of NDT education required.
  • Canadian General Standards Board, Level II Certification in PT, ET, and UT preferred. Additional Canadian General Standards Board, Level II Certification in MT and RT (Aircraft Structures) is desirable. If not held the candidate must be willing to achieve these qualifications.
  • To be certified in the noted NDT methods, candidate must meet special physical, training and experience requirements as specified under the governing specification for each noted NDT method.
  • Type and amount of experience as defined under certification specification CAN/CGSB-48.9712.
  • May be required to work in confined spaces and/or in Aircraft Fuel Tanks.
  • Must be able to work over three (3) meters in height and utilize various man lift platforms.
  • Must be able for Shift Work if required.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Must possess strong computer skills and be efficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Occasional travel in support of offsite tasking may also be required.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies. Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 8S activities in your area.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional Canadian General Standards Board, Level II Certification in MT and RT (Aircraft Structures) is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up and calibrating equipment.
  • Interpreting NDT tests and evaluating the results in accordance with applicable codes and specifications.
  • Determining the capabilities and limitations of the NDT method for which they are certified.
  • Choosing and/or applying detailed NDT techniques to products or parts.
  • Developing NDT procedures adapted to problems that are the subject of an NDT specification.
  • Preparing written NDT instruction.
  • Organizing and reporting non-destructive testing results.
  • Exercising assigned responsibility for the training and supervision of trainees and Level 1 personnel in the correct and safe use of NDT equipment.
  • Verifying the technical performance of Level 1 personnel under supervision.
  • Applying NDT theory and testing techniques.
  • Familiar and compliant with all Federal, Provincial and Company Safety regulations.
  • Attend upgrade training for trade or personal development.
  • Special assignments as designated by Supervisor – NDT.
