S&ME is seeking an experienced NDT/NDE Technician, preferably a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), to join our Metals team in Atlanta, Georgia. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum of 3 years of NDT/NDE metals testing experience OR an associate degree in a closely related field
  • Active industry-related certifications: AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification or working towards AMPP Coatings, a plus
  • Achievement of ASNT Level II certification per ASNT-SNT-TC-1A in at least one method
  • Willing and able to perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment
  • Working the majority of the time outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Climbing heights over 200 feet
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. of materials and equipment
  • Safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites
  • Working outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs arise
  • Candidates must comply with our Fleet Management, Substance Policy, and Reference Check requirements.
  • Only candidates with valid employment eligibility (I-9) will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Experience in Safety, DDC, NDT, and Radiation Training
  • Experience with the use of fall protection equipment and personal fall arrest systems
  • ICC certification in Building Inspections and/or Structural Steel Inspection
  • Level II for UT, PT and/or MT certification

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect structural steel, including bolted and welded connections.
  • Conduct fieldwork, which may involve safely climbing steel structures such as buildings, cell phone towers, and water tanks to heights exceeding 200 feet, using fall protection equipment and personal fall arrest systems.
  • Conduct inspections and deploy non-destructive testing methods to uphold quality standards.
  • Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) duties such as ultrasonic inspection (UT) of welds and/or magnetic particle testing (MT) of welds.
  • Manage testing assignments across projects.
  • Maintain testing equipment in working order and calibration, which may include managing field and laboratory equipment inventories, formal calibration records, and participating in quality systems audits.
  • Create detailed reports to communicate findings.
