About The Position

Leidos, is currently seeking an experienced NAS410 NDT Level 2 in CR/DR and PT to perform inspections for the Quality Technologies Inspection group. As a Certified NDT Level 2 this individual is expected to support inspection logistics and perform work in our Huntsville, Alabama area. This position will also provide non-destructive testing expertise for various Leidos projects and programs and engage in the testing and disposition of manufactured products. This individual is expected to engage directly with other NDT personnel and program management on all MMF and PIF location projects. Primary Responsibilities The candidate shall be capable of taking initiative and responsibility of performing operations on each project site. The candidate is expected to successfully acquired and maintain Level 2 CR certifications in accordance with NAS410 requirements. The candidate shall be capable of assisting the Lead Quality Technologies Inspection department of Leidos Dynetics in all matters concerning NDT operations to an auditor, the customer, or other Leidos Dynetics Leadership. Must have the working knowledge to organize and create RT Techniques in collaboration with a Level 3. When necessary, the candidate shall inspect welds on DoD and aerospace hardware. The applicant shall determine acceptance against applicable quality standards and codes, report findings to Weld Engineers, and Nonconformances to Quality Engineering. Become intimately familiarized with several codes and specifications (like ASTM E2033, AWS D1.1 or 17.1). Must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be willing to work weekends.
  • Candidate must have a BS degree and 2 – 4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Candidate must have a current experience portfolio proving capability to test to Level 2 for certification for CR and PT, and possess the ability to pass a vision and color perception exam IAW NAS410.
  • Candidate must minimally possess a state radiography safety card for X-ray, or combined card (w/RAM).
  • Candidate must have a minimum of 4 years of combined experience in in quality manufacturing and/or aerospace.
  • Candidate must have strong communication skills with the ability to instruct others in accordance with internal and industrial weld process specifications.
  • Candidate must be proficient in Word, Excell, and Powerpoint.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
  • Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Candidate must be able to climb ladders and scaffolds and have the ability to crawl under supported trailer weldments for evaluation.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
  • Ability to travel, typically no more than 10% may be required
  • Achieve and maintain NAS410 Level II certifications, Magnetic Particle MT, and Dye Penetrant PT
  • CWI certification is a plus.
  • Trade school or real-world experience with welding under the hood.
