About The Position

Hexcel is seeking an NDT Level 2 Technician for its Kent, WA, USA location. This role involves performing ultrasonic testing of composite structures according to established customer specifications and Hexcel procedures. The technician will be responsible for setting up and calibrating equipment, conducting tests, interpreting and documenting results, and organizing inspection data. The position requires the operation of portable ultrasonic flaw detection equipment for through transmission and pulse-echo methods, as well as automated scanning systems like AUSS and MAUS. Experience with phased array is a plus. The technician will also characterize indications and record results in a high-production environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant NDT experience.
  • Documented proof of previous or current Ultrasonic Level II certification.
  • Experience working with portable ultrasonic flaw detection equipment for through transmission and pulse-echo methods.
  • Experience using automated scanning systems such as AUSS, and MAUS.
  • Intermediate Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to work swing or night shift.
  • Lift 30 pounds without assistance.
  • Must be qualified for certification in accordance with NAS410.

Nice To Haves

  • A combination of NDT experience and a technical degree in NDT will be considered.
  • Ultrasonic inspection experience in composites is highly preferred.
  • Experience with phased array a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ultrasonic testing of composite structures per established written customer specifications and Hexcel ultrasonic techniques and procedures.
  • Set up and calibrate equipment, conduct tests, and interpret, evaluate, and document results in accordance with written techniques and procedures.
  • Organize and document inspection results and use applicable specifications, codes, standards, and other contract documents to prepare procedures and techniques for Level III approval.
  • Operate portable ultrasonic flaw detection equipment for through transmission and pulse-echo methods.
  • Utilize automated scanning systems such as AUSS and MAUS.
  • Clamp and fixture parts, operate systems, and evaluate data.
  • Characterize indications and record results in a fast-paced, high production environment.
