About The Position

Pratt & Whitney is seeking an NDT Inspector specializing in Fluorescent Penetration Inspection (FPI) for the 2nd shift. This role is crucial for examining the structure of aerospace case parts using FPI, a non-destructive testing method, to identify defects requiring repair. The inspector will perform FPI methods on various engine cases, ensuring conformance to work instructions and repair scopes by marking non-conforming areas. The process involves cleaning and processing parts in an FPI Booth, inspecting internal case structures with specialized equipment, and preparing detailed inspection documentation. Collaboration with engineering, quality, and operations teams is expected, along with reviewing work instructions, repair requirements, and blueprints. The role utilizes FPI booths, equipment, and inspection fixtures, and may involve assisting Level III Quality Engineers in developing test techniques. Compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse Programs is mandatory.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent (e.g., G.E.D.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of MS Office programs
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • Non-Destructive testing (NDT) Level 2 certification
  • 1 year of related experience/education in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods for both Digital Radiography inspection (X-Ray and Fluorescent Penetration Inspection (FPI)
  • Experience in aviation component repair preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Fluorescent Penetration inspection methods on engine cases to determine and verify conformance to work instructions and repair scope.
  • Mark areas of the part not meeting criteria.
  • Clean and process parts using FPI Booth.
  • Inspect internal case structure using inspection equipment.
  • Prepare and complete required inspection documents (manual and electronic), reports, and stamping of work instructions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, quality lab, operations, and materials personnel.
  • Review work instructions, repair operations requirements, and blueprints.
  • Use inspection tools including Fluorescent Penetration Inspection (FPI) Booth and equipment and inspection fixtures.
  • Assist Level III Quality Engineer (QE) in developing specific test techniques.
  • Comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse Programs Policy.
