This position is responsible for testing and evaluation, with absolute integrity, of products to ensure conformance to company and customer specifications. The NDT Inspector makes decisions in the area of codes (includes AWS D1.1) and specifications, and interprets reports for NDT, passing or rejecting quality acceptance. This role actively mentors Entry and Intermediate level NDT Inspectors, monitoring and documenting OJT progress. The inspector is also responsible for performing metallurgical testing including weld coupon testing, positive material identification, and macro examination of weldments. They have the authority to reject material and stop work in process to minimize financial loss and risk of customer dissatisfaction. The position operates under production conditions, requiring accurate performance and completion of work within set time limits. The inspector is accountable for the maintenance of essential tools and equipment, including calibration. Active participation in department safety, demonstrating excellent safety practices and behaviors conforming to all Valmont safety policies and procedures, and maintaining timely and consistent attendance are also essential functions. This position reports to the Quality Engineer and has no direct reports.
