About The Position

The NDT FPI Trainee position will learn how to ensure the integrity and safety of our products. This role involves learning how to perform non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques to evaluate the properties of materials, components, and assemblies without causing damage. The successful candidate will learn how to interpret test results, document findings, and provide recommendations based on their analysis. By maintaining high standards of quality control, the NDT FPI Trainee will learn how to play a vital role in preventing defects and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Ultimately, this position contributes to the overall reliability and performance of our product, safeguarding both the company’s reputation and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Self-motivated and reliable
  • Be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work with minimal supervision to a qualified certification level.
  • Possesses proficient written and verbal communication skills, fluent in the English language
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Basic knowledge of relevant product manufacturing and inspection technology.
  • Be able to follow work instructions based on the level of certification.
  • Pass an annual eye exam to 20/25 Snellen and Color perception in at least one eye, natural or corrected.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must qualify as a US Person (US Citizen, Permanent Resident, etc.) due to ITAR technical data access.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of manufacturing experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) using Florescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) to industry/customer standards and company procedures.
  • Daily use of inspection materials and equipment that meet customer requirements and company procedures.
  • Assist production in the setup of materials and jobs.
  • Participate in NDT audits (NADCAP, Customer, Internal) based on the Level of responsibility.
  • Based on the level of certification, interface with customers and auditors (internal/external) regarding penetrant testing.
  • Must test for each level of certification based on the SMI process and relevant specifications. Each certification level consists of a General Written Exam (closed book), a Specific Written Exam (open book), and a Practical Application Exam.
  • Gain understanding of department roles & responsibilities.
  • Follow Safety Expectations and wear proper PPE.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends, if necessary.
