NC Programmer (Siemens NX CAM) - Project

Saratech•Mission Viejo, CA
•Remote

About The Position

Saratech is seeking an experienced NC Programmer with strong expertise in Siemens NX CAM to develop, optimize, and support CNC machining programs for precision components made from soft metals, plastics, and hard metals, including aluminum, brass, copper, steel, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and other high-performance alloys. The role is fully remote and works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and shop personnel to create efficient, production-ready NC programs. A Journeyman Machinist Card or equivalent apprenticeship training is highly desirable. The position involves programming milling, turning, and multi-axis machining operations, developing strategies for prototype and production components, validating toolpaths, and creating manufacturing documentation. The programmer also troubleshoots machining issues with shop personnel and recommends improvements to productivity, quality, and cost. This is a 12-month project paying $70 per hour. Employees may enroll in the company's 401(k) plan with company matching. Full-time and part-time employees receive 40 hours of paid sick time per year or the minimum required by state law. Applicants are subject to a background check and must be a U.S. Person.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of CNC programming experience using Siemens NX CAM.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining principles and GD&T.
  • Experience programming parts made from aluminum, stainless steel, tool steels, titanium, high-temperature alloys, and copper alloys.
  • Experience with CNC milling and turning operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in creating manufacturing documentation and setup instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
  • U.S. Person status.
  • Successful completion of a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Machinist Card or completion of a formal machining apprenticeship program.
  • 10 or more years of CNC programming and machining experience.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, industrial, or high-precision manufacturing industries.
  • Knowledge of cutting tool technologies, workholding, and fixture design.
  • Experience with post-processor development and optimization.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing workflows.
  • Hands-on setup and operation experience with CNC machine tools.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM for milling, turning, and multi-axis machining operations.
  • Develop machining strategies for prototype and production components across a variety of materials and complexity levels.
  • Generate and validate toolpaths for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis milling, CNC turning, and mill-turn applications.
  • Select tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies to maximize productivity and part quality.
  • Simulate and verify NC programs to identify and eliminate collisions, gouges, and machining inefficiencies.
  • Create setup sheets, tooling lists, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Collaborate with machinists, manufacturing engineers, quality personnel, and project managers to improve machining processes.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues remotely with shop personnel and implement corrective actions.
  • Recommend process improvements to reduce setup time, machining cycle time, scrap, and tooling costs.
  • Maintain programming standards, post processors, and best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Comply with organizational policies and procedures, maintain confidentiality, follow absence and PTO notification policies, attend mandatory meetings and required annual training, and represent the organization professionally.

Benefits
