About The Position

Seeking a Naval Architecture and Marine Engineer to research and respond to maintenance related technical feedback report submissions and other special projects from Military Sealift Command (MSC). This is a full-time, regular position requiring a Confidential clearance and up to 10% travel within the Continental US. The role involves working independently with general supervision, addressing difficult but typically not complex problems, and potentially influencing other technical staff. The individual will contribute to operational targets with significant impact on departmental results and may be responsible for entire projects or processes. They will implement and execute technical initiatives, making adjustments or enhancements to systems and processes. The role addresses somewhat complex technical issues requiring depth of knowledge from other areas, solved through prior experience and analysis. Communication will be with contacts typically within the project area or technical department, potentially influencing parties within their own job function at an operational level. Guidance and assistance may be provided to entry-level professionals or support employees. The position requires an advanced understanding and application of standards, principles, theories, and technical concepts, potentially including practical project management knowledge. Typically requires a University Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of related work experience.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DOD Confidential clearance.
  • BS Degree in engineering or naval architecture program.
  • Familiarization with Navy and MSC maintenance and logistics programs.
  • Four years of post-graduate marine, power, or manufacturing plant technical experience.
  • Familiar with commercial ship operations, maintenance concepts, programs and procedures.
  • NAVSEA Level I Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Training or equivalent covering requirements of MIL-P-24534A.
  • If no degree, must demonstrate eight years of equivalent technical experience in Naval Architecture, Marine or other Naval Engineering work.
  • If no degree, must demonstrate four years of commercial or Navy experience with maintenance concepts, programs and procedures.
