About The Position

Everforth ECS is seeking licensed Professional Engineers (PE) with distinct expertise in Naval Architecture and Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Structural engineering to work remotely. We are seeking licensed Professional Engineers (PE) with distinct expertise in Naval Architecture and Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Structural engineering to lead the technical design, development, and integration of commercial and governmental marine vessels. Acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for specific Ship Work Breakdown Structure (SWBS) groupings, the PE will hold stamping authority, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive engineering excellence.

Requirements

  • PE in Structural/Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture.
  • PE in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
  • PE in Electrical Engineering.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) License in Naval Architecture or related field(s).
  • 5-20+ years of progressive maritime or heavy industrial engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard 2D/3D CAD and CAE/FEA software suites.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proven track record of communicating clearly with engineering leadership and waterfront trades.
  • Effective communication skills to speak at various levels of technical expertise to internal/external personnel.
  • The ability to work independently but maintain strong coordination with remote team members/customers is also required.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in lifting appliances, structural design, or hybrid propulsion is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CFRs, ABS, USCG, MARPOL, and SOLAS regulations.
  • Deep knowledge of marine classification standards for electrical systems (e.g., IEEE 45).
  • Experience with Ship Constructor highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assume total technical responsibility and quality control for SWBS groupings applicable to your domain, ensuring work adheres to 100% of the project requirements.
  • Review, verify, and stamp design packages, calculations, and specifications for classification societies (e.g., ABS, DNV) and flag state authorities as necessary.
  • Map end user requirements to holistic systems and engineering methodologies, ensuring no design criteria or regulatory standards are missed.
  • Coordinate directly with other SWBS leads to ensure proper integration of weight, stability, power, other ship services, and structural interfaces.
  • Support and help to drive the design spiral, shipyard construction, commissioning, and in-service modifications/drydockings.
  • Ensure designs meet project specifications, class requirements, and maritime regulatory standards (e.g., ABS, DNV, USCG).
  • Conduct design reviews, incorporate feedback, and implement modifications to accommodate changes in project scope.
  • Develop and present technical materials at all levels, including senior executives for efficient review and decision making.
  • Design and evaluate hull forms, scantlings, and foundations.
  • Evaluate conceptual designs for ship systems and identify the work required to develop the associated detailed/production designs.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and first-principle calculations to ensure structural integrity.
  • Manage weight monitoring and structural evaluation to maintain vessel intact and damage stability.
  • Develop drawings (with the assistance from CAD drafters) of associated systems.
  • Develop detailed engineering designs and specifications for piping, HVAC, and refrigeration systems, and steering gear.
  • Conduct hydrodynamics, thermo-fluids, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses for propulsion systems.
  • Select, size, and integrate main and auxiliary systems including pumps, fans, valves, and other mechanical components.
  • Design power generation, distribution, and conversion systems for both ship service and emergency loads.
  • Develop electrical load analyses, short-circuit calculations, and arc-flash studies.
  • Integrate hybrid/electric propulsion architectures, switchboards, and marine cabling networks.
  • Integrate Regulatory and Class Society certification requirements such as Safe Return to Port (SRtP), Automated Centralized Control Unmanned (ACCU), Dynamic Positioning Systems (DPS-0 through DPS-3), etc.
