About The Position

CACI is seeking a Naval Architect Intern in our Washington, DC office to perform design and analysis of new and existing ships and ship systems.

Requirements

  • Currently pursing a Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Ocean Engineering
  • Understanding of ship system performance assessment and prediction methods, especially utilizing computer assisted design (CAD) and computer aided engineering (CAE) software in the design process.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills to work with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Must be a US citizen and have ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office
  • Good written and verbal (English) communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and analyze new ships and ship system concepts.
  • Develop designs for current and conceptualized ships, systems and equipment.
  • Use design software to prepare plans, drawings and analytical models.
  • Support evaluation of designs for feasibility.
  • Analyze critical elements or performance of the design using analytic tools.
  • Prepare reports of results and conclusions.
  • Identify and apply regulatory and customer standards, commercial and military standards, as well as classification society rules, to ship designs and modifications.
