About The Position

The Naval Architect will be responsible for implementing various naval architecture processes, serving as a Marine Warranty Surveyor, analyzing vessel stability and motion, designing optimization spreadsheets and Matlab routines, determining technical assurance of proposed methodologies, and attending marine operations to ensure adherence to approved procedures.

Requirements

  • U.S. Bachelors Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Two years experience in job or as Marine Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Implement naval architecture processes such as motion and mooring analysis, intact and damaged stability, float over mating analysis and skid on global strength calculations.
  • Serve as Marine Warranty Surveyor for documentation approval, vessels' suitability survey and on-site attendance for approval of offshore wind farm transport and installation.
  • Analyze vessel’s intact and damage stability with GHS software, vessel’s motion response with AQWA software and vessel’s mooring forces with Orcaflex software.
  • Design and optimize Excels spreadsheets for the post-processing of motions analysis output and Matlab routine for calculation of vessel’s cribbing forces during cargo transportation.
  • Determine technical assurance of proposed methodology using technical standards such as DNV ST-N001 - Marine operations and marine warranty and assess reliability of data, methodology and results based on industry standards and independent analyses.
  • Attend marine operations to ensure approved procedures are implemented properly, gather evidence on location proving equipment is operational and monitor progress of operations and confirm weather conditions are acceptable.
