The City of San Marcos' Parks and Recreation Department is seeking new volunteers to participate in the Nature Center Docent program at the Jack's Pond Nature Center. This role is ideal for individuals who are at least 18 years old, have a passion for nature, and wish to educate visitors about local habitats. The Jack's Pond Nature Center, located in a renovated barn near Cal State San Marcos, features 10 themed rooms with activities and information about local flora and fauna. As a Nature Center Docent, volunteers will be responsible for overseeing the nature center on Sundays from 10 am to 1 pm, at least one day a month, and performing other assigned duties. This role offers opportunities to engage in nature-inspired activities, learn about San Marcos Nature alongside visitors, and participate in city-related events and school field trips.
