About The Position

We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of part-time permanent Naturalist within the Division of Parks & Watercraft, headquartered at Tar Hollow State Park in Ross County. The address is 16396 Tar Hollow Road, Laurelville, Ohio 43135. This is a part-time position that is budgeted for approximately 1600 hours/fiscal year. The days/hours per week will vary based on the season.

Requirements

  • 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in preparing &/or presenting educational materials concerning wildlife & plants
  • 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations
  • valid driver’s license
  • Completion of associate degree core coursework in natural sciences (e.g., biology, botany, zoology)
  • 12 mos. exp. as Naturalist Aide, 22540
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan & conduct interpretive & recreational programs for the general public & special interest groups
  • Lead visitors on excursions into the park & other ODNR properties
  • Plan & coordinate special events (e.g., workshops, community festivals)
  • Coordinate volunteers related to educational programs
  • Perform public relations & marketing activities
