The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land & Water is recruiting for a Natural Resource Manager 2 in Anchorage. This position is open to Alaska Residents only. The Permitting Unit is a team of 8 dedicated professionals with deep expertise in land management, specifically in permitting. Requirements

Administration and Management: Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production.
Environmental Science: Knowledge of the interdisciplinary concepts, principles, theories, and methods of investigating the natural and physical environment, including examination of ecology, biology, physics, chemistry, plant science, zoology, mineralogy, oceanography, limnology, soil science, geology and physical geography, atmospheric, and other related sciences in the protection and improvement of the environment and its resources.
Influencing/Negotiating: Persuades others; builds consensus through give and take; gains cooperation from others to obtain information and accomplish goals.
Project Management: Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance.
Education in a natural resource field, law, public administration, planning or economics and/or progressively responsible professional experience or managerial experience in natural resource management.
Written Communication: Writes in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience.
Oral Communication: Makes clear and convincing oral presentations. Listens effectively; clarifies information as needed.
Conflict Management: Encourages creative tension and differences of opinion. Anticipates and takes steps to prevent counterproductive confrontations. Manages and resolves conflicts and disagreements in a constructive manner.
Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Oversee a team of land management professionals responsible for issuing permits on state lands across Southcentral Alaska.
Drive economic development while safeguarding Alaska’s natural resources.
Facilitate responsible public land use in alignment with the public interest.
Mentor and inspire a dedicated team of up to eight staff.
