About The Position

This position involves conducting natural resource management operations of the Natural Lands under the guidance of professional staff. It is a student employee position classified as non-exempt, with a wage range of $11.75-12.75/hour. The role requires the student to be dependable and punctual, able to work in a team environment, and possess a strong interest in natural resource management and problem-solving abilities. Extensive training is provided at the start of employment, which must be successfully completed to continue in the position.

Responsibilities

  • Remove invasive species
  • Collect seeds
  • Work outside for extended periods
  • Learn technical natural resource management skills
  • Remove brush
  • Participate in prescribed fire
  • Apply ecological theory to land management
  • Identify plants
  • Plant and water trees as needed
  • Maintain trails
  • Conduct research methods for long-term ecological management and study
