Natural Areas Student Aide, SC1NATAABIOLO (FA26)
About The Position
This is a student position at the College of DuPage. The Natural Areas Student Aide will assist the Prairie Manager in the maintenance of Natural Areas on campus. This includes tasks such as trail maintenance and repair, invasive plant species eradication, brush removal, seed collection and processing, prescribed burning preparations, plant care, workspace organization, weeding, litter pickup, and assisting with volunteer events. The role requires the student to be enrolled in a minimum number of credit hours, maintain a certain GPA (waived for first-semester students), and may be hired as a Federal Work Study employee if eligible. The position involves working outdoors, potentially on uneven terrain, and requires appropriate attire and safety training.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. (GPA requirement is waived for first-semester students).
- If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Some knowledge of landscape/garden maintenance is required.

Responsibilities

- Assist with volunteer workdays, tours, and special events.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
