The Natural Areas Management Intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to the management and promotion of the JJC Natural Areas. This includes data collection and summarization for deer management programs, participation in vegetation surveys, assisting with IDNR deer management permits, and grant research. The intern will also support the Natural Areas Committee by attending meetings, managing meeting logistics, and recording/writing up minutes. Additionally, the role involves assisting with ecological restoration events, maintaining trail map availability, conducting weekly trail monitoring for various ecological aspects (e.g., oak damage, invasive species, lake conditions, bird boxes, reptile populations), generating semester monitoring reports, and maintaining a social media presence to promote the natural areas. The intern will meet with the Natural Areas Committee Chair bi-weekly.
