About The Position

Are you motivated to apply your systems engineering skills to inform the future of our nation’s space control architecture? Are you an “end-to-end systems thinker" with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience who is looking to have an impact on our National Security Space & Civil Space programs? Are you passionate about working on complex challenges by applying advanced systems engineering and development principles and applying digital engineering tools and techniques to revolutionize how complex systems are designed and developed? If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL! We are seeking a Mission Engineer to perform development of national security space missions and systems-of-systems modeling for space control architectures in a digital engineering environment using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques & practices. You will be working with a hardworking team of engineers to provide vital mission engineering, systems engineering, and software engineering expertise to nationally important space capabilities.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, or other engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in systems engineering, space systems, national security architectures, and/or MBSE practices and techniques
  • Systems architecting/Mission Engineering experience with MBSE modeling tools using associated modeling software, such as Cameo, Rhapsody, or SPARX EA.
  • Demonstrated experience defining and refining space architectures
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
  • A drive to explore novel techniques and work with similarly-minded experts to conceive, propose, and execute your own internal research projects
  • Experience with modeling, simulation, or performance analysis of space systems and constellations, or physics-based modeling for space applications
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as needed
  • Hold an active Top Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information.
