About The Position

The American Liver Foundation (ALF) is the nation's leading non-profit organization dedicated to liver health and disease prevention. ALF promotes education, advocacy, support services and research for the prevention, treatment, and cure of liver disease. This position is responsible for leading and developing a range of programs and initiatives associated with ALF’s Think Liver Think Life (TLTL) Initiative. Think Liver Think Life™ is a national public health campaign which aims to ensure every American understands their risk for liver disease, receives the appropriate screening and care coordination and feels well-informed and supported throughout their liver journey. Focusing on steatotic liver disease and liver cancer, the campaign focuses on liver health awareness and education events and local screenings. Recognizing that collaboration with the development department is of utmost importance to ensure ALF’s success, all staff should help in identifying and communicating potential fundraising relationships to development colleagues.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in health education, Public Health, Community Health or other closely related health degree
  • Fluent in English.
  • 3 years of experience in health education.
  • 2 years of experience in a health care setting with Electronic Health Record experience
  • Knowledge of health issues, public health, and liver disease.
  • Ability and willingness to learn complex medical information.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing data
  • Ability to maintain relationships with health professionals.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to launch and manage projects to completion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patient populations
  • Ability to manage crisis situations and exercise sound judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail and quality of work product.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish, both verbal and written, preferred.
  • CHES® preferred.
  • Experience in executing health screening initiatives (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Strategically represent ALF, its mission, and values to all stakeholders including the general public
  • Assists in development of the new TLTL Primary Care outreach program aimed increasing awareness, education and screening for MASLD/MASH in the Primary Care setting.
  • Assists in the development of new educational materials and the microsite for the TLTL Primary Care outreach program
  • Serves as liaison and develops partnerships between ALF and liver health screening sites, primary care physicians, allied health professionals, medical organizations and/or community health centers across the country
  • Assist the National Director, Education and Outreach on projects
  • Develop and Implement MASLD/MASH screening initiative methodology including protocols and processes for data collection.
  • Design and deliver education and training to medical clinics and/or volunteers
  • Design and deliver health education and connection to care services
  • Design and deliver all ALF staff training, clinic coordination and liaison with Sonic Incytes on the Velacur device to implement clinic screening events.
  • Implement MASLD/MASH screening initiative methodology including protocols and processes for data collection.
  • Ensure MASLD/MASH screenings take place within an established timeline at minimum number of sites
  • Determine the educational materials needed and facilitate the distribution of ALF education materials and other resources in a variety of locations and settings.
  • Design and coordinate virtual meetings and programming
  • Build relationships to promote the overall TLTL program in assigned states
  • Serve as a liaison between the TLTL Program and ALF Advocates
  • Represent the organization through participation in relevant state level cancer control initiatives and other relevant medical related initiatives
  • Determine data to collect, analyze new and current data and develop reports.
  • Share fundraising prospect information with national development staff.
