About The Position

The National Honor Society Advisor at WHS is responsible for overseeing the organization's operations, including officer selection, community service projects, member GPA monitoring, and the induction process for new members. This role requires ethical practices and serving as a role model for students. The advisor will also coordinate fundraising events and ensure member participation in school-wide activities like graduation and the Winter Formal.

Requirements

  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.50 for current members.
  • Have student service forms electronic and easily accessible.
  • Select the faculty council to serve in the selection process.
  • Give student evaluation forms to all teachers.
  • Collect the forms and gather the data from the teachers’ evaluations.
  • Share the student service forms with the members of the faculty council.
  • Call a minimum 4 hour meeting for the faculty council to select the inductees.
  • Notify the students and parents of selection status.
  • Organize the induction ceremony.
  • Order and/or print the certificates as soon as possible after the selections are made.
  • Order supplies for the induction ceremony.
  • Arrange for current members to help with the setup and clean up of the ceremony.
  • Choose a date for the following year’s induction ceremony and secure the commons and auditorium.
  • Talk to the principal to see what the needs are for the underclassmen to help at graduation.
  • Coordinate with officers for the Winter Formal as a fundraiser for a charity.
  • Supervise Winter Formal setup, event, and clean-up with officers and members in participation.
  • Work at commencement to ensure members who have upheld pillars and membership requirements wear the honor stole.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct meetings to select officers (president, vice president, community service, public relations, winter formal, teacher appreciation).
  • Organize at least one community service project.
  • Monitor current members' GPAs to ensure they meet requirements.
  • Hold additional meetings as needed for event planning.
  • Manage the spring selection process for new members, including sending electronic letters to eligible students and holding informational meetings.
  • Ensure student service forms are electronic and accessible.
  • Select the faculty council for the selection process.
  • Distribute and collect student evaluation forms from teachers.
  • Share student service forms with the faculty council.
  • Call and facilitate a minimum 4-hour meeting for the faculty council to select inductees.

  • Coordinate with officers for the Winter Formal fundraiser for a charity.
  • Supervise Winter Formal setup, event, and cleanup.
