The National Account Manager is responsible for driving the entire sales process to generate growth with all retail consumer accounts. This position involves developing pricing, promotional, and category management strategies based on research. The National Account Manager will also design business plans to deliver sales objectives. The National Account manager will build and maintain strong relationships with key retail partners and collaborate internally with our cross-functional team to drive overall growth. Additionally, they will ensure effective broker coverage, foster strong relationships and providing the necessary resources to broker to drive success.

Requirements

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills in the development of category strategies
  • Proven understanding of retail store merchandising management
  • Broker management experience
  • Proficiency in MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • 7-10 years direct selling experience in a consumer-packaged goods environment; preferably in the consumer major retail market sector (Accounts: UNFI, KeHE, Costco, Kroger GM, Vitacost, Hy-Vee, Whole Foods Market, Natural Grocers, Raley's, C&S West etc.). C & S West etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the strategic direction, revenue and profit objectives of the grocery & club sales channels with focus in the Natural Channel
  • Regularly communicate with key internal stakeholders on market dynamics, competitive environment, progress against business plans, sales strategy, and business opportunities
  • Collaborate with and lead several cross-functional teams made up of Marketing, and New Product Development to develop a customer specific line of products and marketing strategy
  • Develop and aggressively implement formalized plans to gain and expand sales to the appropriate market
  • Develop excellent working relationships with retailers to achieve business objectives
  • Utilize an in-depth understanding of retailer dynamics, shopper/consumer knowledge, merchandising opportunities, and retailer promotional opportunities
  • Responsible for managing and implementing all account promotional programs within the retail market sector
  • Work with Manager to develop existing customers and obtain new departments & customers
  • Manage broker networks to exceed sales goal
  • Responsible for preparing Nielsen and IRI data to develop strong category management presentations
  • Provide accurate forecast for assigned accounts
