National Account Manager

About The Position

Our client, a large and established building products manufacturer, is seeking a leader to build its national accounts program from the ground up within its insulated panel division. Currently, the division sells through traditional customer bases. The objective is to establish direct national account agreements with end owners. These agreements will typically be structured as directed buys, where the owner specifies the client's products. The work is then bid to the traditional customer base, who purchases from the client. The owner receives a rebate, maintaining market price and the customer base's involvement while securing volume and pricing across their portfolio. This role is critical as large owners increasingly request enterprise-level partnerships, and competitors are actively pursuing these same owners. This hire will position the client as the obvious single-source partner.

Requirements

  • Must have national accounts experience.
  • Proven track record of calling on C-suite executives and closing enterprise-level agreements.
  • Experience building a national accounts program is highly preferred.
  • Must have construction experience, understanding project lifecycles from owner to installation, including roofing contractors, building products, or metal buildings.
  • Must have business development experience: opening doors, assessing needs, writing tailored proposals, and closing agreements.
  • Comfortable working independently with limited direction.
  • Ability to thrive in a performance-driven, entrepreneurial culture.
  • No degree required; experience is valued more highly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building a national accounts program is ideal.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the national account plan, including strategy, target list, and go-to-market approach.
  • Create and implement the national accounts program from scratch.
  • Engage with C-suite executives and key decision-makers at owners and manufacturers, including the director of construction level.
  • Target end owners across various markets such as pharmaceutical manufacturing, cold storage, data centers, grocery, manufacturing, and REITs.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of organizations to understand their building processes, identify opportunities, and quantify them.
  • Develop and negotiate custom national account agreements that align with the business's delivery capabilities, and secure signatures.
  • Sell the entire panel portfolio as a single source, including architectural facade systems and cold storage applications.
  • Collaborate with the parent company's other product groups to offer a comprehensive building supplier solution when opportunities extend beyond panels.
  • Build and lead a national sales team over time, fostering trust and collaboration with sales managers.
