About The Position
El Centro Milagro is seeking a Music Director for its 2026 holiday production, A Xmas Cuento Remix by Maya Malan-Gonzalez. Brimming with Christmas songs in both Spanish and English, A Xmas Cuento Remix is a high-energy theatrical experience that blends storytelling, music, and movement to create a world where past, present, and future collide in unexpected ways. Infused with humor, heart, and cultural rhythm, the celebration of family, community, and kindness through a festive and contemporary reimagining of a holiday classic.
Requirements
- Ability to teach vocal music to performers with varying levels of musical experience.
Nice To Haves
- Previous music direction experience for theatre, educational theatre, choir, or related performance settings.
- Spanish-language proficiency.
Responsibilities
- Teach and rehearse 11 songs with the cast using provided sheet music.
- Lead music rehearsals and support actors in learning vocal parts and harmonies.
- Collaborate with the director and production team throughout the rehearsal process.
- Attend scheduled rehearsals as needed to support the musical elements of the production.
- Attend preview performances.
