Music Therapist
About The Position
St. Croix Hospice is seeking a Music Therapist to support patients and families through the end-of-life journey. The role uses personalized musical experiences to provide comfort and connection and to help patients experience moments of joy and peace. It combines artistic passion with clinical knowledge and offers autonomy in practice and meaningful patient connections. The Music Therapist provides therapy according to patients’ plans of care, assesses patients and evaluates the effectiveness of treatment, and uses music therapy interventions to relieve symptoms and support emotional, physical, and spiritual comfort. The position is full-time and based in Harrisonville, Missouri, with a stated schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 100% travel.
Requirements
- Degree in Music from an accredited school.
- Ability to pass a background check, consumer report, and drug test.
Responsibilities
- Provide music therapy in accordance with the plan of care.
- Assess patients and determine the effectiveness of music therapy.
- Implement interventions to relieve symptoms and support emotional, physical, and spiritual comfort.
- Use techniques such as relaxation, lyric analysis, songwriting, and life review.
- Document therapy sessions promptly.
- Educate the team.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and quality improvement.
