About The Position

St. Croix Hospice is seeking a Music Therapist to use music to complement and enhance conventional care for hospice patients. Through personalized musical experiences, the therapist helps patients experience comfort, connection, joy, and peace during challenging times. The role combines artistic passion with clinical knowledge and offers autonomy in practice and meaningful patient connections.

The Music Therapist provides therapy according to each patient’s plan of care, assesses patients and treatment effectiveness, and implements interventions that support symptom relief and emotional, physical, and spiritual comfort. The position also includes documenting sessions, educating the care team, maintaining HIPAA compliance, and participating in interdisciplinary meetings and quality improvement.

This is a full-time position based in South Sioux City, Nebraska. The stated schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; travel percentage is 100%.

Requirements

• Degree in Music from an accredited school.
• Ability to pass a background check, consumer report, and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Provide music therapy according to the plan of care.
• Assess patients and determine the effectiveness of music therapy.
• Implement interventions to relieve symptoms and support emotional, physical, and spiritual comfort.
• Use techniques such as relaxation, lyric analysis, songwriting, and life review.
• Document therapy sessions promptly.
• Educate the team.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and quality improvement.
