About The Position

Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital is seeking a Music Therapist to provide a unique opportunity for pediatric patients and families to use music as a therapeutic expression during hospitalization. The Music Therapist will offer music instruction, non-pharmacological pain management, procedural support, and bereavement memory-making for children in Pediatrics and in the adult ICU. For children of adult patients, this includes creating keepsakes and heartbeat recordings during parental loss.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy from an AMTA approved program and emphasis in neurologic music therapy required for SHCC and preferred for HDVCH Child Life.
• 2 years of relevant experience related to music therapy.
• Experience working with individuals with neurological injury.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for evaluating client's need for music therapy.
• Plans and executes treatment program in accordance with guidelines outlined by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA).
• Maintains skills through continuing education.
• Serves as a clinical resource to peers, team members, and client/family.
• Participates in quality improvement and program development activities.
• Provides music instruction, non-pharmacological pain management opportunities, procedural support, and bereavement memory making for children and their families on Pediatrics and in the adult ICU.
• Helps children of adult patients create keepsakes and heartbeat recordings during parental loss.
