About The Position

Music & Arts is seeking an educator and skilled musician to teach private music lessons and help students develop a lifelong relationship with music. The Music Teacher creates an engaging, supportive, and safe learning environment for students of varying ages and skill levels. The role includes communicating with students and parents about goals and progress, coordinating with store teams on lesson scheduling and retention, and using musical expertise to inspire student growth. Music & Arts handles administrative work so instructors can focus on teaching. Music & Arts is part of the Guitar Center enterprise and is based in Frederick, Maryland. The company has more than 225 retail stores, more than 200 educational representatives, and more than 250 affiliate locations. The listed pay is $15.16 per hour for non-teaching work, plus a teaching rate of $10–$20 per hour depending on background and experience. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or equivalent experience.
Two years of music teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctoral) in Music.
Professional teaching memberships or certifications.
Eight or more years of teaching experience, especially teaching multiple instruments, including banjo, baritone, bass clarinet, bass guitar, bassoon, cello, clarinet, flute, French horn, guitar, mandolin, oboe, percussion, piano, piccolo, saxophone, string bass, trombone, trumpet, tuba, ukulele, viola, violin, and voice.

Responsibilities
