About The Position

Excellence Community Schools (ECS) is seeking a passionate, patient, quick-thinking, & innovative Music Teacher for the SY26-27 school year. This position involves responsibility for classroom music instruction for Elementary or Middle School students. The ideal candidate will have experience in a classroom music setting engaging all children. ECS is a Charter Management Organization (CMO) supporting schools in the Bronx, NY and Stamford, CT, with a mission to prepare young scholars for success in top high schools through a challenging academic curriculum and a supportive, high-expectation environment that fosters intellectual, artistic, social, emotional, and ethical development. They utilize a differentiated, project-based learning approach to develop analytical and critical thinking skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Connecticut State Teaching Certification in Education/Music Grades 1-6 or Middle School required
  • A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in music education, working with children, and providing music instruction in an urban school setting is required.
  • Passionate about teaching music and enforcing the learning of music concepts required.
  • Have educational and/or professional training in developing and implementing a music education program for children

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction in music in a variety of settings & uses effective instructional techniques tailored to individual student’s goals and objective & provides instruction and support in the area of music education.
  • Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards.
  • Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards.
  • Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
  • Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions.
  • Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior.
  • Be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
