About The Position
Join our team as a Music Teacher, where you will engage Elementary students at our Stratford School in San Jose. You will play a vital role in cultivating students’ appreciation for music and helping them develop foundational skills in both instrumental and vocal performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field from an accredited college or university
- Proficiency in piano, with the ability to teach and accompany students
- Strong music sight-reading and transposition skills
- Ability to teach fundamental vocal techniques and group singing
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage students, parents, and colleagues
Nice To Haves
- Experience composing original music is a plus
- Prior experience teaching or working with children in an educational setting is preferred
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, age-appropriate music lessons across grade levels
- Incorporate the piano as the primary instrument of instruction, while integrating a variety of other instruments
- Teach music reading skills, transposition techniques, and basic music composition
- Instruct students in basic vocal techniques, including diaphragmatic breathing, pitch, diction, harmony, and scale work
- Foster a positive classroom environment
- Collaborate with faculty to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and growth
- Maintain a vibrant, organized classroom conducive to active participation
