About The Position

LEARN Charter School Network is seeking a passionate Specials Teacher to provide high-quality, grade-appropriate music instruction and enrichment to assigned students. The teacher is responsible for the daily operation of the classroom and for creating a supportive, community-based learning environment that promotes student engagement, understanding, independence, social skills, and self-esteem. The role includes building and maintaining relationships with students’ families, staff, and community members, and may include organizing after-school enrichment programming. Teachers work within LEARN’s Multi-Tier System of Support, which aims to support scholars’ academic and social-emotional needs and create inclusive learning environments.

Requirements

• Significant content-area knowledge in the subject area.
• Demonstrated record of living LEARN’s Core Values.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual.
• Professional Educator’s License (PEL) in Elementary Education.
• At least one year of teaching experience.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering gains in student academic achievement.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver grade-appropriate music enrichment programming to assigned students.
• Organize and use materials and technology effectively to enhance instruction and promote students’ independence, social skills, and self-esteem.
• Promote active student engagement through lesson management and communication that supports student understanding.
• Monitor student behavior and help establish expectations consistent with the school-wide and classroom discipline plan.
• Promote positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Potentially organize and run after-school enrichment programming as arranged with the school.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
• Supervise children at all times and clean and maintain classroom equipment and furniture.
