About The Position

St. Anne School, under the Diocese of Allentown, is seeking a part-time Music Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This role involves providing daily music instruction, selecting age-appropriate activities aligned with the Allentown Diocese curriculum, and evaluating student progress. The teacher will also be responsible for organizing and directing the school chorus, preparing them for performances, and maintaining effective communication with parents and colleagues. The position requires adherence to school and Diocesan policies, including maintaining confidentiality and exhibiting respect for the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Requirements

  • Must have previous teaching experience.
  • Must communicate effectively with parents, students, and co-workers in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
  • Possess an understanding of child development and the skills necessary to relate to the students being taught.
  • Possess an understanding of the supervision of employees and the communication skills necessary to relate to adult employees and volunteers in a collegial, as well as effective, and efficient manner.
  • Ability to handle classroom situations with fairness and patience.
  • Able to maintain a high level of energy.
  • Ability to respond calmly to overwhelming and difficult situations.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, a high degree of credibility, integrity, and self-confidence is essential.
  • Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check required prior to interview.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Music or Music Education preferred.
  • PA Teacher certification preferred.
  • Ability to play the piano is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily instruction and select learning activities appropriate to student's needs based on the music curriculum set by the Allentown Diocese.
  • Create lesson plans that are appropriate for the age and abilities of the students in the class.
  • Teach students to understand music and the use of musical instruments.
  • Develop an environment that promotes learning and social interaction.
  • Act as a positive role model for the children.
  • Organize and direct the school chorus preparing them for Christmas concerts and talent shows.
  • Post grades and send grade reports to parents as required by the school system.
  • Keep informed of current educational practices through professional reading and educational opportunities; remain current with both religious and academic standards.
  • Actively establish and maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe, orderly, effective, and productive environment established from St. Anne School discipline procedures.
  • Actively supervise students in hallways before, after, and between classes, in a library, in the cafeteria, in bus areas, and at special events, ensuring safety and security.
  • Knowledge of emergency evacuation routes, school procedures, and regulations for the classrooms assigned.
  • Attend school preparation days, in-service and staff development opportunities, and Diocesan educational workshops; attend and participate in school faculty meetings, open houses, and other school-related activities upon the request of the principal.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters including social media and online platforms.
  • Follow all St. Anne's School and Allentown Diocese policies as per the teacher's handbook.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal.
