About The Position

This is a 0.5 position located at Science Focus Elementary School. The role involves preparing students for various performance opportunities, participating in yearly festivals, and maintaining effective communication among staff, parents, and the community. The teacher will work collaboratively with the fine arts team, maintain a music website, and provide outreach to enhance the music program. The position requires flexibility, dependability, organization, and a desire to work with a diverse community of learners. The teacher will also be responsible for organizing a minimum of two school-based performances, attending county-wide Arts Education professional development, and providing a choral pullout program for 4th and 5th graders. Staying current with arts-related technology and best practices is also a key aspect of the role. Arlington Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Requirements

  • Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
  • Must be endorsed in music.
  • Experience working with diverse student population
  • Successful teaching experience and curricular knowledge.
  • Experience implementing best practices in General Music Instruction

Nice To Haves

  • Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required
